Riyad as-Salihin 1372 (Book 11, Hadith 88) #37861
The Mercy of Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith tells us that Allah is more merciful than us and will forgive those who are generous and kind to the poor.

Hudhaifah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "A slave of Allah whom He had endowed with wealth, will be brought before Him. Allah will ask him: 'What did you do in the world?' (They cannot conceal anything from Allah) He will say: 'O my Rabb, You endowed me with Your wealth; I used to enter into transactions with people and it was my nature to be lenient to the insolvent ones. I used to give respite to those who were in straitened circumstances'. Whereupon Allah will say: 'I am more entitled than you to do this. So forgive my slave'"'.Uqbah bin 'Amir and Abu Mas'ud Al- Ansari (May Allah be pleased with them) said, "Thus we heard it from the Messenger of Allah ". Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous with your wealth; Give respite when people are in straitened circumstances; Be kind towards those who are less fortunate than you; Show mercy towards others; Have faith in God's mercy

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the mercy of Allah. It tells us that if a person has been blessed with wealth by Allah then they should use it to help those in need. They should be generous and kind to the poor and give them respite when they are in straitened circumstances. In return for this kindness, Allah will forgive them for their sins as He is more entitled than anyone else to do so. This teaches us that we should always be generous with our wealth as it can lead to forgiveness from Allah. We must also remember that no matter how much we give or how much good we do, it will never compare to what God can do for us if He wills it so.
