Supplicating for the Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that it is not enough to simply mention his name, but one must also make supplications for him.

'Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "The miser is the one in whose presence I am mentioned but he does not supplicate for me". At- Tirmidhi.
وعن علي رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله ‏:‏ ‏ "‏ البخيل من ذكرت عنده، فلم يصلِ علي‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه الترمذي وقال‏:‏ حديث حسن صحيح‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏
