Praying for Protection and Comfort

SUMMARY: This hadith is about asking Allah to make our religion easy, set right our worldly affairs, make good for us in the Hereafter and make life prone to perform all types of good and death a comfort from every evil.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah used to say: "Allahumm-aslih li diniyalladhi huwa 'ismatu amri, wa aslih li dunyaya-llati fiha ma'ashi, wa aslih li akhirati-llati fiha ma'adi, waj'alil-hayata ziyadatan li fi kulli khair, waj'alil-mauta rahatan li min kulli sharrin (O Allah, make my religion easy for me by virtue of which my affairs are protected, set right for me my world where my life exists, make good for me my Hereafter which is my resort to which I have to return, and make my life prone to perform all types of good, and make death a comfort for me from every evil)". Muslim.
وعنه قال‏:‏ كان رسول الله ، يقول‏:‏ ‏ "‏اللهم أصلح لي ديني الذي هو عصمة أمري، وأصلح لي دنياي التي فيها معاشي، وأصلح لي آخرتي التي فيها معادي، واجعل الحياة زيادة لي في كل خير، واجعل الموت راحة لي من كل شر‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه مسلم‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Hurairah who was one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this hadith, he teaches us to ask Allah for protection and comfort in our lives. He asks us to pray that Allah makes our religion easy so that we can practice it properly, sets right our worldly affairs so that we can live peacefully, makes good for us in the Hereafter so that we can be rewarded accordingly and makes life prone to perform all types of good deeds so that we can benefit ourselves spiritually as well as physically. He also asks us to pray for death being a comfort from every evil so that when it comes upon us, it will not bring any harm or distress but rather peace and tranquility. The values taught through this hadith are patience, faithfulness towards God's commands, seeking help from Him alone and having trust in His mercy.
