EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the words of supplication that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say when he was in distress. It is narrated by Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, and recorded by both Al Bukhari and Muslim. The supplication consists of three parts, each beginning with “La ilaha illallahu” which translates to “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah”. The first part praises Allah as Incomparably Great and Compassionate; the second part acknowledges Him as Rabb of the Mighty Throne; and thirdly, He is acknowledged as Rabb of heavens, earth and Honourable Throne. Through this supplication we learn that no matter how difficult our situation may seem, we should always turn to Allah for help and remember His greatness and mercy towards us. We also learn that it is important for us to acknowledge all aspects of His power over us - from our physical environment down to our innermost thoughts - so that we can truly appreciate His greatness over all things.
