Excellence of the Muslim Ummah

SUMMARY: The most excellent among Muslims is one who does not harm other Muslims with their words or actions.

Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah : "Who is the most excellent among the Muslims?" He said, "One from whose tongue and hands the other Muslims are secure". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

This hadith speaks to the importance of being an exemplary member of the Muslim ummah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that excellence in this regard is what makes a person truly great among their peers. We must also remember that this applies not only to fellow Muslims but also to people from all walks of life; respect for others is paramount in Islam.
