The Characteristics of a True Muslim and Emigrant

SUMMARY: A true Muslim is one who does not harm other Muslims with their words or actions, and an emigrant is someone who avoids doing things that Allah has forbidden.

'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "A (true) Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe; and a Muhajir (Emigrant) is he who leaves the deeds which Allah has prohibited". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
وعن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص رضي الله عنهما قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله ‏:‏ ‏ "‏المسلم من سلم المسلمون من لسانه ويده، والمهاجر من هجر ما نهى الله عنه‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the characteristics of a true Muslim and an emigrant. A true Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe; they do not harm other Muslims with their words or actions. An emigrant is someone who leaves the deeds which Allah has prohibited; they avoid doing things that Allah has forbidden in order to please Him. This hadith teaches us to be kind to our fellow Muslims by avoiding any hurtful words or actions towards them as well as avoiding any sinful deeds in order to gain favor from God.
