Overcoming Drowsiness During Prayer

SUMMARY: When feeling drowsy during prayer, one should lie down until the drowsiness passes away in order to ensure that they are not unknowingly abusing themselves.

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: Messenger of Allah said, "When one of you feels drowsy during prayer, let him lie down till drowsiness goes away from him, because when one of you performs prayers while feeling sleepy, he does not know whether he seeks forgiveness or abuses himself". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Remain mindful and conscious during prayer. Lie down if one feels drowsy or sleepy while praying. Seek forgiveness from Allah in prayer.

EXPLANATIONS:
During prayer, it is important to remain aware and conscious of what we are saying and doing. If one begins to feel drowsy or sleepy while praying, they should lie down until the feeling passes away. This is because when someone prays while feeling sleepy, they may not be aware of what they are saying and could end up unknowingly abusing themselves instead of seeking forgiveness from Allah. It is important for us to remain mindful during our prayers so that we can reap the full benefits of them.
