The Dangers of Injustice and Stinginess

SUMMARY: This hadith warns against injustice and stinginess, as it led to bloodshed and treating the unlawful as lawful in the past.

Jabir bin 'Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah said, "Beware of injustice, for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection; and beware of stinginess because it doomed those who were before you. It incited them to shed blood and treat the unlawful as lawful". Muslim

QUICK LESSONS:
Treat people fairly; Be generous; Avoid injustice; Avoid stinginesness

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith warns us against two dangerous behaviors - injustice and stinginess. Injustice is when someone does not treat others fairly or with respect, while stinginess is when someone refuses to share what they have with others. Both of these behaviors can lead to serious consequences, such as bloodshed or treating something that is forbidden by Allah as permissible. On the Day of Judgment, those who committed these sins will be punished severely for their actions. Therefore, we should strive to always be just and generous in our dealings with others so that we can avoid such punishments in the hereafter.
