Accountability for Wrong Judgements

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) warned that if he makes a wrong judgement in a dispute, then he will be held accountable for it on the Day of Judgement.

Umm Salamah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: Messenger of Allah said, "Verily, I am only a human and the claimants bring to me (their disputes); perhaps some of them are more eloquent than others. I judge according to what I hear from them). So, he whom I, by my judgment, (give the undue share) out of the right of a Muslim, I in fact give him a portion of (Hell) Fire". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for fairness when making judgments . Seek guidance from Allah before making decisions or judgments .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith narrated by Umm Salamah(May Allah be pleased with her), Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is warning us about accountability for wrong judgements. He is reminding us that as humans we are not perfect and can make mistakes when judging disputes between people. He warns that if we make an incorrect judgement then we will have to answer for it on the Day of Judgement and may even receive punishment in Hellfire. This hadith teaches us to always strive to make fair judgements based on what we hear from both sides and not let our own biases or emotions cloud our judgement. We should also remember that no matter how hard we try there is still potential for error so it's important to seek guidance from Allah before making any decisions or judgements.
