Showing Mercy Instead of Cursing

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught us to not help the devil against someone who has done wrong, and instead of cursing them, we should show mercy.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man who had drunk wine was brought to the Prophet and he asked us to beat him; some struck him with their hands, some with their garments (making a whip) and some with their sandals. When he (the drunkard) had gone, some of the people said: "May Allah disgrace you!" He (the Prophet ) said, "Do not say so. Do not help the devil against him". Al-Bukhari.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show mercy towards others even if they have done something wrong or bad.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about showing mercy instead of cursing someone who has done wrong. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was once presented with a man who had drunk wine and he asked people to beat him as punishment. Some people hit him with their hands, some with their garments, and some with their sandals. After the man left, some people said "May Allah disgrace you!" But the Prophet ﷺ told them not to say that because it would help the devil against him. This teaches us that even when someone does something wrong or bad, we should still show mercy towards them instead of cursing them or wishing harm upon them. We should remember that Allah is Most Merciful and He loves those who are merciful towards others too!
