Rewarded for Spending on Children

SUMMARY: Spending on one's children is an act of charity that will be rewarded by Allah.

Umm Salamah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: I asked Messenger of Allah , "Would I be rewarded for what I spend on Abu Salamah's sons? For I can't let them go here and there (to beg people)". Messenger of Allah replied, "Spend on them and you will be rewarded for what you spend on them". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of spending on one's children. It was reported by Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, that she asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ if she would receive a reward for spending on her son Abu Salamah's sons. The Prophet ﷺ replied in the affirmative and said that she would indeed receive a reward for what she spends on them. This hadith teaches us to take care of our children and provide them with their needs as it is an act of charity which will be rewarded by Allah. We should not let our children go out begging people as this is not permissible in Islam and we should strive to provide them with whatever they need from our own resources or through halal means such as work or business. Furthermore, this hadith also encourages us to have faith in the mercy and justice of God who rewards those who do good deeds even if it seems insignificant in worldly terms.
