Burial of Martyrs

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) arranged the burial of two martyrs in one grave and placed the one who had learnt more Qur'an by heart first in the Lahd.

Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: After the battle of Uhud, the Prophet arranged the burial of two of the martyrs in one grave. In each case he would ask, "Which one of them had learnt more Qur'an by heart?" Whichever was thus pointed out to him, was placed by him first in the Lahd. Al- Bukhari.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ arranged for two martyrs to be buried together. He asked which one of them had learnt more Qur’an by heart, and whichever was pointed out to him was placed first in the grave. This shows us that learning and memorizing the Quran is a great virtue, as it is something that will stay with us even after death. It also teaches us to respect those who have died for their faith, as they are considered martyrs and should be given special treatment when being buried. Furthermore, this hadith shows us that we should always strive to learn more about our religion so that we can become closer to Allah SWT.
