Sahih al-Bukhari 5303 (Book 68, Hadith 52) #5081
Faith in Yemen & Sternness in the East

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) pointed towards Yemen and said that faith is there, and then pointed towards the East and said that sternness and mercilessness are the qualities of those who do not pay attention to their religion.

Narrated Abu Masud: The Prophet pointed with his hand towards Yemen and said twice, "Faith is there," and then pointed towards the East, and said, "Verily, sternness and mercilessness are the qualities of those who are busy with their camels and pay no attention to their religion, where the two sides of the head of Satan will appear," namely, the tribes of Rabl'a and Muqar.

QUICK LESSONS:
Have faith, Be kind & merciful to others regardless of religious beliefs & practices .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Abu Masud. In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ pointed with his hand towards Yemen and said twice, "Faith is there," indicating that faith is strong in this region. He then pointed towards the east, saying that sternness and mercilessness are qualities of those who do not pay attention to their religion. This indicates that people living in this region may be neglecting their religious duties or obligations which can lead to a lack of mercy or kindness for others. The two sides of Satan's head mentioned here refer to two tribes called Rabl'a and Muqar who were known for being cruel or harsh with others. This hadith teaches us about the importance of having faith as well as being kind to others regardless of our religious beliefs or practices.
