Perfume Use for Women During Menses

SUMMARY: Women should not use perfume except when they are clean from their menses, and then they can use Qust and Azfar.

Um 'Atiyya added: The Prophet said, "She should not use perfume except when she becomes clean from her menses whereupon she can use Qust, and Azfar (two kinds of incense).
وَقَالَ الأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، حَدَّثَتْنَا حَفْصَةُ، حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ عَطِيَّةَ، نَهَى النَّبِيُّ ‏ "‏ وَلاَ تَمَسَّ طِيبًا إِلاَّ أَدْنَى طُهْرِهَا إِذَا طَهُرَتْ، نُبْذَةً مِنْ قُسْطٍ وَأَظْفَارٍ ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ الْقُسْطُ وَالْكُسْتُ مِثْلُ الْكَافُورِ وَالْقَافُورِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the proper etiquette of using perfume for women during their menses. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that women should not use perfume while they are in a state of menses, but once they become clean from it, then it is permissible to use two kinds of incense called Qust and Azfar. This hadith teaches us the importance of following Islamic etiquette even when it comes to something as simple as using perfume. It also teaches us that we must be mindful of our actions at all times and follow the teachings of Islam in order to remain pure and righteous.
