Taking What is Just and Reasonable

SUMMARY: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) advised Hind bint 'Utba to take from Abu Sufyan's property what is just and reasonable for her needs.

Narrated 'Aisha: Hind bint 'Utba came and said, "O Allah's Messenger ! Abu Sufyan is a miser so is it sinful of me to feed our children from his property?" Allah's Messenger said, "No except if you take for your needs what is just and reasonable".

QUICK LESSONS:
Take only what is just and reasonable from another person's property/resources if needed.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about taking care of one’s needs in a way that is just and reasonable. Hind bint 'Utba was worried about taking from her husband’s property as he was a miser. However, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) assured her that it was permissible to take what she needed as long as it was just and reasonable. This hadith teaches us the importance of being fair when dealing with others' possessions or resources. We should not take more than we need or more than what is fair for our situation. It also teaches us the importance of being mindful of our own needs while also respecting the rights of others over their possessions or resources.
