Sahih al-Bukhari 6122 (Book 78, Hadith 149) #5878
The Steadfastness of Believers

SUMMARY: The example of a believer is like a green tree, the leaves of which do not fall.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Prophet said, "The example of a believer is like a green tree, the leaves of which do not fall". The people said".It is such-and-such tree: It is such-and-such tree". I intended to say that it was the date palm tree, but I was a young boy and felt shy (to answer). The Prophet said, "It is the date-palm tree". Ibn 'Umar added, " I told that to 'Umar who said, 'Had you said it, I would have preferred it to such-and such a thing".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the steadfastness and strength of believers. It compares believers to a green tree, whose leaves never fall off. This metaphor implies that believers are strong and resilient in their faith, no matter what challenges they face. They remain firm in their beliefs and never waver or give up on them. This hadith also teaches us that we should be humble and not be afraid to ask questions or admit when we don't know something; even if it's something small like the name of a tree! We should always strive to learn more about our faith so that we can become better Muslims.
