Seeking Refuge with Allah in Tashahhud

SUMMARY: This hadith encourages Muslims to seek refuge with Allah from the trials of life and death, the torment of hell and grave, and the evils of Dajjal when reciting tashahhud.

It was narrated that Muhammad bin Abi 'Aishah said: "I heard Abu Hurairah say: 'The Messenger of Allah said: When one of you recites the tashahhud, let him seek refuge with Allah (SWT) from our things: From the torment of hell, from the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death and from the evils of the Dajjal. Then let him pray for himself asking whatever he wants'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages Muslims to recite tashahhud, which is a prayer that is said during salat. When reciting this prayer, one should seek refuge with Allah from the trials of life and death, the torment of hell and grave, as well as from the evils of Dajjal. By seeking refuge in Allah during this prayer it allows us to ask for whatever we want for ourselves. It teaches us that by seeking protection in Allah we can be granted our wishes if they are within His will. Additionally, it reminds us that no matter what situation we are facing or what trial comes our way; if we turn to Him He will protect us from any harm or evil that may come our way.
