Greeting with Respect

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to greet people on both his right and left sides so that the whiteness of his cheeks could be seen.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah said: "The Messenger of Allah used to say the salam to his right so that the whiteness of his cheek could be seen, and to his left so that the whiteness of his cheek could be seen".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آدَمَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يُسَلِّمُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ بَيَاضُ خَدِّهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ بَيَاضُ خَدِّهِ

This hadith teaches us the importance of greeting others with respect. The Prophet Muhammad was known for his kindness and politeness towards others. We should also strive to make sure our actions reflect our words in order to demonstrate true respect for one another.
