The Power of Praising Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of praising Allah and recognizing His power and authority.

Warrad, the scribe of Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah, said: Muawiyah wrote to Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah saying: "Tell me of something that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ". He said: "When the Messenger of Allah finished praying, he would say: La Ilaha Illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulk wa lahul-hamd wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir. Allahumma la mani' lima a'taita wa la mu'tia lima mana'ta wa la yanfa'u dhal-jaddi minka al-jadd. (There is none worthy of worship except Allah alone with no partner or associate. He is the Dominion and to Him be all praise, and He is able to do all things. O Allah, one can withhold what You have given and none can give what You have withheld, and no wealth or fortune can benefit anyone for from You comes all wealth and fortune)'"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of praising Allah and recognizing His power and authority. It is narrated by Warrad, the scribe of Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah who was asked by Muawiyah to tell him something he heard from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In response, Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah recited a prayer that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would say after finishing his prayers. The prayer acknowledges that there is no one worthy of worship except for Allah alone with no partner or associate. It also recognizes that He has dominion over all things and to Him be all praise as He is able to do all things. Furthermore it acknowledges that one can withhold what God has given and none can give what God has withheld; no wealth or fortune can benefit anyone for from Him comes all wealth and fortune.

This hadith teaches us several values such as humility in acknowledging our dependence on God's mercy; gratitude in recognizing His blessings; faith in believing He has dominion over all things; trust in knowing He will provide for us even when we are unable to provide for ourselves; patience in understanding our limitations before Him; contentment with whatever we have been given by Him; justice in accepting His decisions without complaint or argumentation against them etc..
