The Power of Praising Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of praising Allah and recognizing His power and authority.

It was narrated that Warrad said: "Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah wrote to Mu'awiyah (Saying) that the Messenger of Allah used to say following every prayer, after the taslim: 'La Ilaha Illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulk wa lahul-hamd wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir. Allahumma la mani' lima a'taita wa la mu'tia lima mana'ta wa la yanfa'u dhal-jaddi minka al-jadd. (There is none worthy of worship except Allah alone with no partner or associate. He is the Dominion and to Him be all praise, and He is able to do all things. O Allah, one can withhold what You have given and none can give what You have withheld, and no wealth or fortune can benefit anyone for from You comes all wealth and fortune)'
أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ أَبِي الْعَلاَءِ، عَنْ وَرَّادٍ، قَالَ كَتَبَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ يَقُولُ دُبُرَ الصَّلاَةِ إِذَا سَلَّمَ ‏ "‏ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ اللَّهُمَّ لاَ مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلاَ مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ وَلاَ يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of praising Allah and recognizing His power and authority. After every prayer, Prophet Muhammad used to recite a special dua that acknowledges the greatness of Allah. In this dua, he recognizes that all wealth, fortune, and blessings come from Him alone. He also acknowledges that no one can withhold what He has given or give what He has withheld. This dua serves as a reminder for us to be grateful for all our blessings in life and recognize that it is only through Allah's grace that we have them. We should also remember to thank Him for all our successes in life as well as any hardships we may face because they are ultimately part of His plan for us.

By reciting this dua regularly, we can cultivate an attitude of gratitude towards Allah which will help us stay humble in times of success or comforted in times of hardship knowing that everything happens according to His will.
