Fasting Not Necessary Every Day

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that fasting every day of one's life is not necessary.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr said: "The Messenger of Allah said to me" and he quoted the same Hadith'.Ata said: "someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted".
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ، - وَكَانَ رَجُلاً مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ وَكَانَ شَاعِرًا وَكَانَ صَدُوقًا - عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ

He said that we should not fast every day of our lives, but instead practice moderation and abstain from food for certain days only. This hadith also teaches us the importance of balance in our lives; we should strive to find a balance between spiritual and worldly matters so that we can live a fulfilling life both on earth and in the hereafter.
