Sunan an-Nasai 2532 (Book 23, Hadith 98) #17143
The Upper Hand of Giving

SUMMARY: Giving to those who are close to you is more important than giving to strangers.

It was narrated that Tariq Al-Muharibi said: "We came to Al-Madinah and the Messenger of Allah was standing on the Minbar addressing the people and saying: 'The hand which gives is the upper hand. Start with those for whom you are responsible; your mother, your father, your sister, your brother, then the next closest, and the next closet"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Give generously and responsibly especially towards your family members .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of generosity and responsibility towards family members. It teaches us that we should prioritize our family members when it comes to giving, as they are the closest people in our lives and need our help more than anyone else. The Prophet Muhammad was standing on the Minbar addressing the people, telling them that “the hand which gives is the upper hand” meaning that those who give will be rewarded for their generosity. He then went on to say that we should start with those for whom we are responsible; such as our mother, father, sister and brother before helping others. This hadith encourages us to be generous and kind towards our family members first before helping strangers or other people in need. It also teaches us about responsibility; how we must take care of those closest to us first before thinking about others.
