Prohibiting the Making of Images

SUMMARY: Making images is prohibited and those who do so will be punished.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW said: 'Whoever makes an image will be punished until (he is commanded) to breathe a soul into it, and he will not be able to do so'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey Allah's commands

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Ibn 'Abbas states that making images is prohibited in Islam and those who do so will be punished. This punishment could be in this life or the hereafter, as Allah knows best. The Prophet Muhammad [SAW] said that whoever makes an image will not be able to breathe a soul into it, which means they cannot bring it to life. This hadith serves as a reminder for us to stay away from making images of living things, such as humans or animals, because it goes against Islamic teachings. We should instead focus on worshipping Allah and following His commands with sincerity and devotion.
