The Silver Pommel of the Prophet's Sword

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had a silver pommel on his sword.

It was narrated that Abu Umamah bin Sahl said: "The pommel of the sword of the Messenger of Allah SAW was of silver".
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ، قَالَ كَانَتْ قَبِيعَةُ سَيْفِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had a silver pommel on his sword. A pommel is the handle or hilt at the end of a sword and it was made out of silver. This shows us how important it was for the Prophet to have an ornate and beautiful weapon as he was a leader and role model for all Muslims. It also shows us that even though he was a warrior, he still valued beauty and artistry in his weapons. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us to be mindful of our possessions and take pride in them as they are reflections of ourselves.
