Seeking Refuge from Unbeneficial Knowledge

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught us to seek refuge from four things: knowledge that is of no benefit, a heart that does not feel humble, a supplication that is not heard, and a soul that is never satisfied.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Amr that: The Prophet SAW used to seek refuge (with Allah) from four things: From knowledge that is of no benefit, from a heart that does not feel humble, from a supplication that is not heard, and a soul that is never satisfied.

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek beneficial knowledge ; Have a humble heart ; Make sincere supplications ; Be content with what you have been given .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad taught us to seek refuge in Allah from four things. Firstly, knowledge which has no benefit. This means we should strive for beneficial knowledge and avoid wasting our time on unimportant information. Secondly, he taught us to seek refuge from having a heart which does not feel humble or grateful towards Allah's blessings. Thirdly, he advised us to seek refuge from supplications which are not heard by Allah; this means we should make sure our prayers are sincere and heartfelt so they can be accepted by Him. Lastly, the Prophet asked us to seek protection against having an unsatisfied soul; this teaches us the importance of contentment with what we have been given in life and being thankful for it instead of always wanting more than what we already possess.
