Supplication of the Prophet for Protection from Negative Traits

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) used to recite a supplication regularly to seek refuge from worry, grief, incapacity, laziness, miserliness, cowardice and being overpowered by other men.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW had supplications that he never omitted to recite. He used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi, wal-hazani, wal-'ajzi, wal-kasali, wal-bukhli, wal-jubni, wa ghalabatar-rijal (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from worry, grief, incapacity, laziness, miserliness, cowardice and being overpowered by (other) men)"

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Anas bin Malik speaks about the supplications that the Prophet Muhammad used to recite regularly. He would seek refuge with Allah from worry, grief, incapacity or laziness in doing good deeds and acts of worship; miserliness or stinginess; cowardice; and being overpowered by other men. This hadith teaches us that we should always turn to Allah in times of difficulty and ask for His protection against negative traits such as those mentioned above.
