Seeking Refuge with Allah from Poverty and Humiliation

SUMMARY: This hadith is about seeking refuge with Allah from poverty, want, humiliation, wronging others and being wronged.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that: The Messenger of Allah SAW used to say: "Allahumma, inni a'udhu bika minal-faqri wa a'udhu bika min al-qillati wadh-dhillati, wa a'udhu bika an azlima aw uzlam (O Allah, I seek refuge with you from poverty, I seek refuge with You from want and humiliation, and I seek refuge with You from wronging others or being wronged)" Al-Awza'I contradicted him.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Abu Hurairah and it talks about seeking refuge with Allah from poverty, want, humiliation, wronging others and being wronged. The Prophet Muhammad [SAW] used to say this prayer to seek protection from these things. Al-Awza'i contradicted him but the majority of scholars agree that this prayer is authentic. It teaches us that we should always turn to Allah in times of need and ask for His help in difficult situations. We should also strive to be kind to those around us so that we do not cause harm or be harmed by them. It also reminds us of the importance of having faith in God's plan for our lives even when things seem difficult or unfair.
