Seeking Refuge in Allah

SUMMARY: Seeking refuge in Allah from knowledge that is of no benefit, a heart that is not humble, a soul that is not satisfied and a supplication that is not answered.

Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-arba': min 'ilmin la yanfa'u, wa min qalbin la yakhsha'u, wa min nafsin la tashba'u, wa min du'a'in la yusma'u (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from four: From knowledge that is of no benefit, from a heart that is not humble, from a soul that is not satisfied and from a supplication that is not answered)'"

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek refuge in God from knowledge without any benefits; Have humility before God; Be content with what you have been given; Make supplications to God expecting an answer .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah speaks about seeking refuge in Allah from four things. Firstly, knowledge which does not benefit us. Secondly, a heart which does not have humility and submission to Allah. Thirdly, a soul which is never content with what it has been given by Allah and lastly, supplications which are never answered by Him. This hadith teaches us to be grateful for the blessings we have been given by our Creator and to always remain humble before Him so He may answer our prayers when we ask for something from Him. It also reminds us to use the knowledge we gain wisely as it can be of great benefit if used correctly or can lead us astray if misused or abused.
