Supplication of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the supplication that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) used to say, which was seeking refuge from Allah from the evil of what he has done and what he has not done yet.

It was narrated that Farwah bin Nawfal said: "I asked the Mother of the Believers 'Aishah about what the Messenger of Allah SAW used to say in his supplication. She said: 'He used to say: A'udhu bika min sharri ma 'amiltu wa min sharri ma lam a'mal ba'd (I seek refuge with You from the evil of what I have done and the evil of what I have not done yet)'"
أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ هِلاَلِ بْنِ يِسَافٍ، عَنْ فَرْوَةَ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَائِشَةَ عَمَّا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَدْعُو قَالَتْ كَانَ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا عَمِلْتُ وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا لَمْ أَعْمَلْ

This hadith narrates a supplication that Prophet Muhammad used to say in his daily life. He would seek refuge with Allah from the evil of what he has done and also from the evil of what he has not done yet. This shows us how important it is for us to be mindful of our actions and intentions, as well as being aware that even our thoughts can have consequences if we do not take care in controlling them. It also teaches us to always turn towards Allah for protection and guidance, no matter how small or insignificant we may think our deeds are. We should always strive to make sure that all our actions are pleasing to Him, so that we can be safe from His punishment in this world and the hereafter.
