Sunan Abi Dawud 260 (Book 1, Hadith 260) #20551
Reciting the Quran During Menstruation

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would recline on Aishah's lap while she was menstruating and recite the Quran.

'Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah would recline on my lap when I was menstruating, then recite the Qur’an.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect and kindness towards your spouse regardless of their physical or emotional state; Engage in acts of worship even when you are not feeling your best or going through difficult times; Recline on your spouse's lap during times of ritual impurity; Recite the Quran during times of difficulty/impurity/emotional states

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith shows us that even during a time of ritual impurity such as menstruation, it is still possible to engage in acts of worship such as reciting the Qur'an. This hadith also serves as an example of how much respect and love Prophet Muhammad had for his wife Aisha. He was willing to recline on her lap despite her being in a state of ritual impurity. This teaches us that we should always show respect and kindness towards our spouses regardless of their physical or emotional state. We should also strive to engage in acts of worship even when we are not feeling our best or when we are going through difficult times.
