Sunan Abi Dawud 1503 (Book 8, Hadith 88) #21795
Praising Allah and His Creations

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) praised Allah and His creations, emphasizing the greatness of Allah's power and words.

Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: The Messenger of Allah went out from Juwayriyah (wife of the Prophet). Earlier her name was Barrah, and he changed it. When he went out she was in her place of worship, and when he returned she was in her place of worship. He asked: Have you been in your place of worship continuously? She said: Yes. He then said: Since leaving you I have said three times four phrases which, if weighed against all that you have said (during this period), would prove to be heavier: "Glory be to Allah, and I begin with praise of Him to the number of His creatures, in accordance with His good pleasure, to the weight of His throne and to the ink (extent) of His words".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of praising Allah for all that He has created. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ went out from his wife Juwayriyah's place of worship, and when he returned she was still in her place of worship. He asked her if she had been there continuously, to which she replied yes. In response, the Prophet ﷺ said three phrases four times which weighed more than all that Juwayriyah had said during this period. These phrases were “Glory be to Allah, and I begin with praise of Him to the number of His creatures, in accordance with His good pleasure, to the weight of His throne and to the ink(extent)of His words”. This hadith emphasizes how important it is for us as Muslims to praise Allah for all that He has created - from humans down to even small insects - as well as recognizing how powerful He is by mentioning his throne and words. It also teaches us about being consistent in our worship towards Him no matter what situation we are in or what we are doing at any given time; just like Juwayriyah who stayed consistent in her prayer despite being interrupted by her husband’s return home!
