The Power of Repentance

SUMMARY: Repentance and asking for forgiveness from Allah will be accepted even if one has committed a grave sin.

Narrated Zayd, the client of the Prophet: The Prophet said: If anyone says: "I ask pardon of Allah than Whom there is no deity, the Living, the eternal, and I turn to Him in repentance," he will be pardoned, even if he has fled in time of battle.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the power of repentance and seeking forgiveness from Allah. It is narrated by Zayd, a client of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, that he said that if anyone says “I ask pardon of Allah than Whom there is no deity, the Living, the eternal, and I turn to Him in repentance” they will be pardoned even if they have committed a grave sin such as fleeing in battle. This hadith teaches us that no matter how big our sins are we should always seek forgiveness from Allah and repent for our wrongdoings as He is All-Forgiving and Merciful. We should never give up hope on His mercy as He loves those who turn to Him in repentance.
