Praying for Others

SUMMARY: When a Muslim prays for another, the angels will respond with an 'Amin' and may the same be granted to them.

Abu Al-Darda' said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: When a Muslim supplicates for his absent brother the angels say: Amin, and may you receive the like.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray for your absent brothers/sisters in faith.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the power of prayer and how it can benefit others. It is narrated by Abu Al-Darda', who heard it from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The hadith states that when a Muslim prays for their absent brother or sister in faith, the angels will respond with an 'Amin'. This is a sign of approval from Allah and shows that He hears our prayers. Furthermore, this hadith also implies that when we pray for others we may receive something similar in return. This teaches us to always think positively about our fellow Muslims and to pray for them even if they are not present with us physically.
