Seek medical help when ill

This hadith is about the importance of medical treatment and how it can be used to cure diseases. It was narrated by Usamah ibn Sharik who came to the Prophet and found his companions sitting as if they had birds on their heads. The desert Arabs then asked if they should make use of medical treatment, to which the Prophet replied that they should make use of it as Allah has not made a disease without appointing a remedy for it, with the exception of one disease - old age. This hadith teaches us that we should always seek medical help when we are ill and not rely solely on our own strength or faith in God alone. We must also remember that no matter how much we try, there is no cure for old age and so we must accept this fact gracefully.
