Sunan Abi Dawud 3865 (Book 29, Hadith 11) #24155
The Benefits of Abstaining from Cauterisation

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ forbade cauterisation, which was not beneficial or useful. When the Prophet stopped cauterising, he heard the salutation of angels.

Narrated Imran ibn Husayn: The Prophet forbade to cauterise; we cauterised but they (cauterisation) did not benefit us, nor proved useful for us. Abu Dawud said: He used to hear the salutation of the angels: When he cauterized, it stopped. When he abandoned, it returned to him.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of abstaining from cauterization. Cauterization is a medical procedure that involves burning a part of the body to stop bleeding or remove tissue. In this hadith, it is mentioned that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade cauterization and it did not benefit them when they tried it anyway. However, when they stopped doing it, they heard salutations from angels. This suggests that abstaining from certain activities can be beneficial in ways we may not expect and can bring us closer to God's grace and mercy. It also teaches us to trust in God's plan for us and have faith in His wisdom even if we don't understand why something should be done or avoided at first glance.

The values taught by this hadith are faith in God's plan, trust in His wisdom, obedience to His commands and reliance on Him for guidance and protection.
