Divorce Ordered After Suckling Claim

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) ordered a man to divorce his wife after a black slave-lady claimed that she had suckled both of them.

Narrated 'Uqba bin Al-Harith: That he had married Um Yahya bint Abu Ihab. He said".A black slave-lady came and said, 'I suckled you both'. I then mentioned that to the Prophet who turned his face aside"'.Uqba further said, "I went to the other side and told the Prophet about it. He said, 'How can you (keep her as your wife) when the lady has said that she suckled both of you (ie you and your wife?)" So, the Prophet ordered him to divorce her.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic laws even if it means making difficult decisions like divorcing your spouse; Be truthful in your marriage; Respect religious laws; Obey orders given by Prophet Muhammad(ﷺ).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of truthfulness in marriage. It tells us that if someone claims to have suckled two people who are married to each other, then the couple must divorce. This is because it is not permissible for two people who were nursed by the same woman to be married according to Islamic law. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was very strict on this matter and ordered 'Uqba bin Al-Harith and his wife Um Yahya bint Abu Ihab to divorce when they were informed of this situation. He did not accept any excuses or explanations from them and made sure that they followed the Islamic law in this matter. This hadith teaches us that we should always be truthful in our marriages and follow Islamic laws even if it means making difficult decisions like divorcing our spouse.
