Seeking Price from Allah Alone

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) asked the Bani An-Najjar to suggest a price for their garden, and they replied that they would demand its price from none but Allah.

Narrated Anas: When the Prophet ordered that the mosque be built, he said, "O Bani An-Najjar! Suggest to me a price for this garden of yours". They replied, "By Allah! We will demand its price from none but Allah".
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ بِبِنَاءِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ يَا بَنِي النَّجَّارِ ثَامِنُونِي بِحَائِطِكُمْ هَذَا ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالُوا لاَ‏.‏ وَاللَّهِ لاَ نَطْلُبُ ثَمَنَهُ إِلاَّ إِلَى اللَّهِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ request to the Bani An-Najjar tribe to suggest a price for their garden. The tribe responded by saying that they would only seek its price from none other than Allah. This hadith teaches us that we should always turn to Allah in times of need and not rely on anyone else. It also teaches us that we should be generous with our possessions and not be too attached to them, as everything belongs ultimately to God. We should strive to use our resources in ways which are pleasing to Him, such as donating money or goods for charitable causes or helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Finally, this hadith reminds us of the importance of having faith in God and trusting Him alone when it comes to matters concerning our lives and livelihoods.
