Sahih al-Bukhari 2795 (Book 56, Hadith 13) #2673
The Superiority of Martyrdom

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) said that no one who dies and finds good from Allah in the Hereafter would want to come back to this world, except for a martyr who sees the superiority of martyrdom and would like to come back and be killed again.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, "Nobody who dies and finds good from Allah (in the Hereafter) would wish to come back to this world even if he were given the whole world and whatever is in it, except the martyr who, on seeing the superiority of martyrdom, would like to come back to the world and get killed again (in Allah's Cause)".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the superiority of martyrdom. It was narrated by Anas bin Malik that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that no one who dies and finds good from Allah in the Hereafter would want to come back to this world, even if they were given all its riches. However, a martyr may wish to return because they have seen how great it is to die for Allah's cause. This hadith teaches us that we should strive for martyrdom as it is an honourable death which will bring us closer to Allah in Paradise. We should also remember that our ultimate goal should be pleasing Allah rather than worldly possessions or pleasures.
