Sahih al-Bukhari 2831 (Book 56, Hadith 47) #2707
Striving Hard in the Way of Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that those who are disabled or blind are not equal to those who strive hard and fight in the way of Allah with their wealth and lives.

Narrated Al-Bara: When the Divine Inspiration: "Those of the believers who sit (at home), was revealed the Prophet sent for Zaid (bin Thabit) who came with a shoulder-blade and wrote on it. Ibn Um-Maktum complained about his blindness and on that the following revelation came: "Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) except those who are disabled (by injury, or are blind or lame etc) and those who strive hard and fight in the Way of Allah with their wealth and lives)". (4:95)

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive hard for your faith even if you have physical disabilities or limitations; use whatever resources you have available to serve God's cause; do your efforts out of love for Him; be faithful and sincere in your actions towards serving His cause; persevere despite any obstacles you may face along the way; be selfless when serving His cause as rewards will come from Him alone .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about striving hard in the way of Allah. It was narrated by Al-Bara, when a revelation came down from God regarding believers who sit at home. The Prophet Muhammad then sent for Zaid bin Thabit, who wrote it down on a shoulder blade. Ibn Um-Maktum complained about his blindness, and another revelation came down saying that those believers who sit at home are not equal to those disabled by injury or blindness, but rather to those who strive hard and fight in the way of Allah with their wealth and lives. This teaches us that we should strive hard for our faith even if we have physical disabilities or limitations; we should use whatever resources we have available to us to serve God's cause. We must also remember that our efforts will be rewarded by God if they are sincere and done out of love for Him.
