Jami at-Tirmidhi 3162 (Book 47, Hadith 214) #28811
Refusing to Deny Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Rewarded

SUMMARY: This hadith is about a man who refused to deny Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and was rewarded with wealth and children.

Narrated Masruq: "I heard Khabbab bin Al-Aratt saying: 'I came to Al-'As bin Wa'il As-Sahmi to collect a debt he owed me. He said: 'You shall not be given anything until you deny Muhammad'. So I said: 'No, not until you are dead and resurrected'. He said: 'After I die and I am resurrected?' So I said: 'Yes'. So he said: 'I shall indeed have wealth and offspring to repay you with'. So (the following) Ayah was revealed: Have you seen him who disbelieved in Our Ayat and said: I shall certainly be given wealth and children (19:77)'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Remain loyal & faithful towards your faith no matter what obstacles come your way

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a man named Khabbab bin Al-Aratt who was owed money by another man named Al-'As bin Wa'il As-Sahmi. When Khabbab asked for his debt to be repaid, the other man said he would not pay until Khabbab denied Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). However, Khabbab refused to deny the prophet and instead said that he would only accept payment after the other man died and was resurrected. In response to this faithfulness towards the prophet's teachings, Allah revealed an ayat in Surah Maryam which reads "Have you seen him who disbelieved in Our Ayat and said: I shall certainly be given wealth and children". This ayat shows that Allah rewards those who remain faithful even when faced with difficult situations. It teaches us that we should always remain loyal to our faith no matter what obstacles come our way as Allah will reward us for it in this life or the hereafter.
