Charity and Upholding Ties of Kinship

SUMMARY: Spending on one's husband and orphans is an act of charity and upholding ties of kinship.

It was narrated that: Zainab, the wife of Abdullah said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'Will it be accepted as charity on my part if I spend on my husband and the orphans in my care?' The Messenger of Allah said: 'She will have two rewards, the reward for charity and the reward for upholding ties of kinship'."

This hadith speaks about the importance of charity and upholding ties with family members. The Prophet Muhammad replied that she will have two rewards; one for charity and another for upholding ties with family members. This hadith teaches us that spending on our loved ones is not only a way to show love but also an act of worship which will be rewarded by Allah Almighty in both this world and hereafter.
