Sunan Ibn Majah 1943 (Book 9, Hadith 99) #31295
Resolving Disputes Through Breastfeeding

SUMMARY: A woman was advised to breastfeed a grown man in order to resolve a dispute between him and her husband.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "Sahlah bint Suhail came to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I see signs of displeasure on the face of Abu Hudhaifah when Salim enters upon me". The Prophet said: "Breastfeed him". She said: "How can I breastfeed him when he is a grown man? The Messenger of Allah smiled and said: "I know that he is a grown man". So she did that, then she came to the Prophet and said: "I have never seen any signs of displeasure on the face of Abu Hudhayfah after that". And he was present at (the battle of) Badr.

QUICK LESSONS:
Look for peaceful solutions when dealing with disputes or disagreements instead of resorting to violence or aggression

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's advice to Sahlah bint Suhail, who was having difficulty with her husband Abu Hudhaifah. She came to the Prophet for help and he suggested that she breastfeed the man in question, even though he was a grown man. The Prophet knew that this would be an effective way of resolving their dispute, as breastfeeding creates an emotional bond between two people. The hadith also mentions that Abu Hudhaifah was present at the Battle of Badr, which took place in 624 CE and is considered one of the most important battles in Islamic history. This hadith teaches us that we should always look for peaceful solutions when dealing with disputes or disagreements, rather than resorting to violence or aggression. It also shows us how wise and compassionate the Prophet Muhammad was when it came to solving problems between people.
