EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the advice given by the Prophet Muhammad to Qais bin Harith, who was a newly converted Muslim and had eight wives. The Prophet advised him to choose four of them and let go of the other four. This hadith teaches us that it is important for us to be mindful of our responsibilities and obligations when it comes to marriage, especially if we are married more than once. We should not take on more than we can handle or commit ourselves too much in order for us to be able to fulfill our duties as spouses properly. It also teaches us that polygamy is allowed in Islam but should only be practiced if one can fulfill all their obligations towards each wife equally and fairly.
