The Unfavorable Nature of Divorce

SUMMARY: Divorce is the most disliked of all permissible things in the eyes of Allah.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar that: the Messenger of Allah said: "The most hated of permissible things to Allah is divorce".
حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ الْوَصَّافِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ أَبْغَضُ الْحَلاَلِ إِلَى اللَّهِ الطَّلاَقُ

This hadith speaks about the unfavorable nature of divorce in Islam. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Umar that the Messenger of Allah said that divorce is the most hated among all permissible things to Allah. This hadith emphasizes on how important it is for couples to try and work out their differences before taking such a drastic step as divorce. It also serves as a reminder for couples to think twice before making any decisions regarding their marriage and not take it lightly or without consideration. The Prophet Muhammad's words serve as an example for us to follow and remind us that we should always strive to maintain peace and harmony within our marriages instead of resorting to divorce at every disagreement or difficulty faced between spouses.
