Sunan Ibn Majah 2315 (Book 13, Hadith 8) #31667
Three Types of Judges

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that there are three types of judges, two of whom will be in Hell and one will be in Paradise. The judge who knows the truth and rules accordingly will be in Paradise.

Abu Hashim said: "Were it not for the Hadith of Ibn Buraidah from his father, from the Prophet who said: 'Judges are of three types, two of whom will be in Hell and one will be in Paradise. The man who knows the truth and rules in accordance with it, will be in Paradise. The man who passes judgment on the people in ignorance will be in Hell' - we would have said that if the judge does his best he will be in Paradise".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for justice when making decisions

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the importance of being a just judge. It states that there are three types of judges, two who will go to Hell and one who will go to Paradise. The judge who knows the truth and rules according to it is the one who will go to paradise. This means that it is important for a judge to know what is right and wrong before making any decisions or rulings on cases presented before them. It also implies that if a judge does not have knowledge about what is right or wrong, then they should not pass judgment on people as they may end up sending innocent people to hell due to their ignorance or lack of knowledge about justice. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us that we should always strive for justice when making decisions as it can lead us towards paradise if done correctly.
