Sunan Ibn Majah 2356 (Book 13, Hadith 49) #31708
Charity for Loss and Debt

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised people to give charity to someone who had suffered a loss and was in debt, but not more than what the creditors were owed.

It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri said: "At the time of the Messenger of Allah , a man suffered loss of some fruit that he had purchase, and his debts increased. The Messenger of Allah said: 'Give him charity'. So the people gave him charity, but that was not enough to pay off his debts. The Messenger of Allah said: "Take what you find, but you have no right to more than that, meaning his creditors".

Giving charity when someone has suffered a loss or is in debt
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of giving charity when someone has suffered a loss or is in debt. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised people to give charity, but not more than what the creditors were owed. This teaches us that we should be generous with our wealth and help those who are in need, but at the same time we should be mindful of our obligations and responsibilities towards others. We should also remember that Allah will reward us for our good deeds if we do them with sincerity and out of love for Him.
