The Extravagance of Eating Too Much

SUMMARY: Eating too much is considered to be an act of extravagance.

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah said: "It is extravagance to eat everything you want".
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، وَسُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ نُوحِ بْنِ ذَكْوَانَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ مِنَ السَّرَفِ أَنْ تَأْكُلَ كُلَّ مَا اشْتَهَيْتَ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that it is wrong to eat too much, as this is considered an act of extravagance. We should also be mindful of how much food we are consuming and try to limit our intake so that it does not become excessive or wasteful. This hadith teaches us the importance of being mindful about our consumption habits and encourages us to practice moderation in all aspects of life.
