The Sign of Religious Knowledge

SUMMARY: Prolonging prayer and shortening the sermon is a sign of religious knowledge.

'Ammar bin Yasir (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah saying, "Prolonging Salat (prayer) and shortening the Khutbah (religious talk) indicate the religious knowledge of the person. Make your Salat long and your sermon short". Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Prolong prayers and shorten sermons

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) teaches us that prolonging our prayers and shortening our sermons is a sign of religious knowledge. It is important to remember that prayer should not be rushed through but rather taken seriously and done with intention. Similarly, sermons should not be too long as it can become tedious for the listener. This hadith encourages us to strive for balance in our worship by making sure we are mindful of both prayer and sermon length.
