Riyad as-Salihin 930 (Book 6, Hadith 37) #37419
The Reward for Attending Funerals

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that those who attend the funeral of a Muslim and remain until the prayer is offered and burial is completed will be rewarded with two Qirats, which are equivalent to Mount Uhud. Those who offer their prayer over it and return before its burial will be rewarded with one Qirat.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "Whosoever attends the funeral of a Muslim believing and hoping for the reward from Allah and remains with it until the prayer is offered over it and the burial is completed, he will return with a reward of two Qirat; each Qirat is equivalent to Mount Uhud; and whosoever offers his prayer over it and returns before its burial, he will come back with one Qirat". Al- Bukhari.

Attend funerals of Muslims till completion, Offer prayers over them

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that attending funerals of Muslims is an act of great reward from Allah. It teaches us to show respect for our deceased brothers and sisters in Islam by attending their funerals, offering prayers over them, and staying until the burial is complete. Doing so will result in a reward from Allah equivalent to two Qirats or Mount Uhud; whereas offering prayers over it but leaving before its burial will result in a reward of one Qirat only. This hadith encourages us to stay at the funeral until it ends as this shows respect for our deceased brothers and sisters in Islam as well as earns us rewards from Allah Almighty.
