Supplicating for the Deceased

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught us to ask Allah to forgive the deceased and supplicate for them for steadfastness.

Abu 'Amr (also called Abu 'Abdullah and also Abu Laila) from 'Uthman bin 'Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: After the burial of a dead man, the Prophet would stand by the grave and say, "Ask Allah to forgive your brother and supplicate for him for steadfastness because he is being questioned (about his deeds) now". Abu Dawud.

QUICK LESSONS:
Ask Allah to forgive your brother and supplicate for him for steadfastness .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that after a person passes away we should ask Allah to forgive them and supplicate for them so they can have steadfastness when being questioned about their deeds. We should remember that even though someone has passed away we can still help them by asking Allah to forgive their sins and grant them steadfastness in the afterlife. It is important to remember that our actions in this life will determine our fate in the hereafter so it is important to do good deeds while we are alive. We should also take comfort in knowing that if someone has passed away we can still help them by praying for their forgiveness and steadiness when they are being questioned about their deeds.
